Six details people check
A fake Facebook Messenger chat is judged in about a second, and the eye goes to the same six places every time. The editor above draws all of them for you; here is what each one is, so you know what to leave alone.
Presence lives on the photo, not in a line of text. A green dot on the avatar plus “Active now” or “Active 5m ago” underneath the name.
Two messages in a row from one person share a flat inner edge. Only the first and last bubble of a run keep the full round corner.
The contact’s small photo sits beside the last bubble of each run, never beside every line.
On the default theme your older bubbles lean pink-violet and the newest lean blue, because the color is pinned to the screen, not the bubble.
Under your last message, a miniature of the contact’s picture means they read it. Two circles mean sent and delivered.
The composer says Aa, with the like button at the end. Four round icons sit on its left.
How it works
The editor builds a fake Facebook Messenger chat in the same order you read one: the person, the words, then the way it ends.
Type the contact’s name, upload a photo if you have one, and choose what shows under the name: Active now, Active … ago, or nothing.
Add up to twelve messages, flip each one between the contact and You, and drop a timestamp such as “Today 9:38” wherever the conversation picks up again.
Pick the chat color, decide whether your last message reads Sent, Delivered or Seen, then copy the image or download the PNG.
Chat color
Messenger lets every chat have its own theme. These are the three people recognise without thinking, and the three a fake Facebook Messenger chat made here can use.
The original Messenger blue. Every bubble you send is the same color, which keeps a long thread calm and easy to crop.
The default for most accounts today. Bubbles shade from pink at the top of the screen to blue at the bottom; the generator does the shading for you.
A flat violet that matches the purple Messenger icon. Good when the screenshot sits next to other Meta branding in a slide.
The tiny icon under your message
The receipt is the detail most often wrong in a fake Facebook Messenger chat, because it changes shape at each stage. It only ever appears under your last message.
Outlined circle with a check. Messenger has it; the other person’s phone does not yet.
Filled circle with a check. It reached their phone, but they have not opened the chat.
Their profile picture in miniature. If they have no picture, Messenger shows their initial.
Where the PNG goes
Messenger sits inside Facebook, so the stories told with it are Facebook stories: Marketplace, family group chats, small-business pages. For a script that is not tied to any app, start in the fake chat generator instead.
One screenshot per beat, cut together in CapCut for TikTok, Reels or Shorts.
The Marketplace buyer who asks “is this still available?” and then offers half.
Show how a customer would talk to your Facebook page without exposing a real customer.
Characters texting each other, inserted between chapters or posted as a series.
A sample cloned-account message for teaching parents or students what to ignore.
Received one?
The same details that make a fake Facebook Messenger chat convincing are the ones that give a bad one away. If a screenshot is being used to rush you into paying or sharing something, look for these.
Make your fake Facebook Messenger chat for jokes, stories, mockups and teaching only. Do not use it to impersonate a real person, invent evidence, scam or harass anyone. GenComment is not affiliated with Meta, Facebook or Messenger, and the generator never connects to them. Disclaimer

Questions
Yes. Writing the chat, changing the color and downloading the 2× PNG cost nothing and need no account. Only the 3× HD export is part of Pro.
No. Every PNG comes out clean, on the free 2× export and on the Pro 3× export alike. There is no logo in the corner and no text across the bubbles.
Yes. Pick Active now to get the green dot on the photo, pick Active … ago and type any wording you like, or show nothing under the name.
Set “Your last message” to Seen (photo). The contact’s picture, or their initial if you did not upload one, appears in miniature under your last bubble. Sent and Delivered draw the outlined and filled circles instead.
Yes. Switch the theme to Dark, or use the half-moon button beside the preview. The background turns black and incoming bubbles turn dark grey, like Messenger with dark mode on.
Not yet. The editor makes text messages, which can hold any emoji, plus timestamps between them. You can upload a profile photo for the contact.
No. Making a fake Facebook Messenger chat here sends nothing to Facebook or Messenger and reads nothing from them. The chat is drawn and saved in your browser, so you can close the tab and find your draft where you left it.
Making an obviously fictional screenshot for a joke, a story or a mockup is generally fine. Using one to impersonate someone, scam, harass, or pass it off as proof of a real conversation can break the law and Meta’s rules. Label it as fiction when you post it.
